Community Iftar Dinner at Hackney

Amity Educational Foundation and the Dialogue Society cordially organized a community iftar dinner on Friday, 16th June 2017 at Hackney Town Hall in celebration of Jo Cox’ belief that “We are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us.” at the Great Get Together weekend.

With the presence of the Mayor of Hackney Philip Glanville, Madam Speaker Soraya Adejare, Chief Inspector Ben Clark and many other community members, councillors and distinguished guests.

During the Islamic month of Ramadan Muslims fast between dawn and dusk, breaking the fast just after sunset in a joyful meal called iftar, with family and friends. In a spirit of friendship and respect, we shared this happy meal with the wider community and gave to each other a sense of the spirit of Ramadan.

This Ramadan, we pray for unity, understanding and tolerance between people. We pray for love and compassion.
